  • Position Summary

    As an integral member of the team, the Lead Groundskeeper will ensure that industry leading customer service and facilities are provided for all residents and tenants by performing a wide variety of exterior and interior grounds maintenance at this mixed use property (residential, office, retail).

    This position has Full-time hours which are 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. Hours & days may vary periodically due to business requirements (eg: month end).


    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure the property is well maintained and managed in accordance with guidelines at all times.
    • Adhere to property cleaning schedule and perform custodial tasks which include, but are not limited to:
      • Maintain entrances and corridors, ensuring they are kept clean and free of obstacles or dangers and debris.
      • Monitor and remove garbage from garbage barrels and manage waste/recycling program.
      • Perform internal and external grounds maintenance (in and around property).
      • Maintain and keep clean the bike rooms, garbage chutes, garbage and elevator rooms.
      • Oversee and maintain the  car-wash (clean, maintain, order supplies)
      • Perform regular checks at the property for vandalism and/or graffiti and fix or remove as needed.
    • Oversee scheduled maintenance and repairs on various equipment which may include tractors, snow blowers/brooms, weed eaters, pressure washers, tools.
    • Perform general grounds keeping which includes, but is not limited to the following: snow removal, landscaping upkeep, sweeping/blowing of driveways, ramps and walkways to remove leaves, dirt, ice, snow etc.
    • Perform and maintain annual flower plantings around properties.
    • Foster good resident/tenant relations and implement approved programs in accordance with budget guidelines.
    • Responsible for the completion of projects as required or requested by the Property Manager. 
    • Ensure local, provincial, & federal laws and regulations are being observed at the community.
    • Use all equipment and execute all work in a safe, professional manner and in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
    • Ensure comprehension and compliance with all Westcorp Playbook policies by community staff.  
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Property Manager.

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • A minimum of two years’ relevant experience is required
    • Physically fit – ability to lift, move, alter items of weight
    • Strong inter-personal skills with exceptional communication ability
    • Possess a safety oriented and safety conscience attitude
    • Must be able to work efficiently and independently
    • Proven customer service/resident relation skills
    • Must be flexible and willing to change roles or responsibilities as required
    • Must be able to drive a tractor
    • Possess sensational customer service philosophy
    • Security clearance required upon offer of employment
    • Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license
    • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
