Position Summary:
The Building Operator is primarily responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance projects, preventative maintenance tasks, tenant work orders and other operational duties as assigned on the various commercial sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the properties are well maintained and managed in accordance with guidelines
- Responsible for completion of projects as required/requested by the Operations Manager. Assist operations personnel, as required
- Identify and rectify any general maintenance issues on the properties, such as overhead doors checked for proper operation, repairing doors, light bulb replacement, painting, roofing issues, and sewer back-ups
- Regular inspections of properties for vandalism and graffiti; removal as required
- Regular checks for lighting and prompt replacement of any bulbs that are burnt out
- Coordinate contractor access and work in conjunction with contractors to complete various tasks
- On-call for after-hours emergencies, on rotation
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, plumbing, preventive maintenance and fire codes / ability to read blueprints is required
- Identify and rectify general maintenance issues
- Prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines in an efficient and timely manner
- Record monthly utility meter readings
- Adhere to and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety standards and legislation guidelines
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Two to five years of relevant experience
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate. (Will consider 3rd or 5th class)
- Energetic, positive attitude
- Physically fit, ability to lift, carry or move heavy items
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle required (prefer truck for ease of moving equipment/tools)
- Available for on-call emergencies
- Must be able to work efficiently and independently
- Highly organized, results-oriented and able to work in a multi-functional team environment
- Security clearance required upon offer of employment
